Biography:

Jeremy Carden

Writing is my passion...

My name is Jeremy Carden and I am from Clover, Virginia. I grew up in a Baptist church and I was saved at age 8. It was at that point in my life when I decided to live for Christ that I discovered somewhere down the road He would show me what I was meant to do. A few weeks after being baptized I began speaking in church. For the next few years I continued to speak at churches around the county.

It was not clear to me at first, but I had a talent for writing. Back in high school, I remember writing parodies of Christmas songs for my science classes. Everyone loved them, but it never occurred to me at that time how much of an impact it will make later on in my life. I also loved reading and writing poems along with short stories.

In 2009, I graduated from Danville Community College with a First Year’s Study a week before my graduation at Halifax County High School. I was able to do Dual Enrollment during high school to get ahead of the game. Even though I had a couple of years of college credit under my belt I was still unsure about what to study.

I went to college at Liberty University in the spring of 2010. At first, I studied Computer Science but then I changed it to Communications because I felt that working with computers neglected my public speaking abilities that I developed while I was growing up. After the next semester, I felt like it was the best change of my life. From there I also worked on an Associate’s in Religion and a Biblical Studies minor.

I wrote my first original song when I was 19 and ever since then I have been driven by the goal of getting my music out there. Studying the songwriting styles of great artists like Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift, I learned the benefits of writing honest songs. One thing that I try to do is to avoid writing anything with negative ideas; sex, drugs, profanity, etc.

Most of my favorite music is from the Motown-era up until the 90s. I grew up listening to it and back then it was possible to write hit songs without bleeping out every other word. It is because of this that I want to write great music like back in the good old days. Along with that I hope to write songs that people in today's time can relate to.

Writing from many genres gives me an even greater respect for music as a whole. I am strictly a lyricist and my main goal is to connect with singers and composers to finally get my songs out there for everyone to hear. Having an artist perform my songs would be like a dream come true.
